Product Description TITLE
Amazon.com Product Description
Experience the true thrill of skateboarding as never before through the revolutionary new skateboard controller in Tony Hawk: Ride. Bundled with the Ride game, the unique motion-sensitive board controller redefines the action-sports genre by translating your body motions into the game. No buttons, no thumbs, no analog sticksâjust you on the board. For the first time in video game history, anyone can jump on a skateboard and feel the freedom, creativity, and accomplishment of skateboarding. Pick up and shred action. View larger. | Innovative board controller. View larger. | Mini-challenges and events. View larger. | Fans of board sports will love the authentic experience of the board controller, while the intuitive nature of the board and multiple difficulty settings make it a fun and exciting experience for people of all ages and skill levels. The ease with which anyone can pick up and play this game and each player's unique playing style make this a fun social game for friends and family to play together. So, are you ready to Ride? All About the Board Using full motion sensing technology, the intuitive skateboard controller allows players to physically control the action by performing various movements and gestures on the board that directly translate into amazing tricks seen in the game. Closely resembling a "deck"--a board without wheels or trucks, which allow actual skateboards to maneuver their boards--the Ride controller is built around a combination of flat and rounded surfaces. Along the majority of the boards upper surface, as well as the middle center portion of its bottom, players will find flat, level surfaces that provide for players' balance. This is countered by the rounded edges along the top at either ends, as well as the bottom outer edges. These allow for true to life trick performance mechanics which allows gamers can experience a full range of movement as they rotate, tilt and lift the board in a variety of ways to discover every trick in the game. In addition, the Ride board comes with features designed to maximize ease and continuity of play. These include an upper surface texture similar to the grip tape used on real boards to help maintain player contact with and control of the board, and a full set of traditional navigational buttons that allow the player to interact with the game between levels and online when it is more convenient to do so. Anyone Can Ride Tony Hawk: Ride is designed to be fully accessible to everyone – from hardcore fans to players with no prior skateboarding experience. Moving away from the open-world game environment that recent releases in the franchise have embraced, Ride is instead built around a wide range of mini-challenges and events more concerned with riding than exploration. These cover every genre in modern skateboarding and aim to focus the player's attention on developing their skills with the board. And this is easy to do with addictive and engrossing gameplay without complex button combinations or analog sticks that allow gamers to literally step on the board and play. Exciting, Immersive and Social Game Play Tony Hawk: Ride features a diverse set of trick, vert, and speed challenges that allow players at all levels to take on their friends and family as they compete with each other via "Hot Seat" game play. In addition, with robust multiplayer, online and create-a-skater modes, players can jump into a personalized and extremely social gaming experience. |

Can't endorse the product. February 22, 2010 Dina Tabora (Chicago) I did my best to support Robomoto and skateboarding. The calibration to connect the board is almost impossible. A player needs a controller and of course the $100+ board/RIDE game. The process is cumbersome and difficult. If you happen to be a goofy foot player, right foot forward, the game seems to automatically calibrate to standard food with no cancel/recalibrate option. If your a standard foot skateboarder, left foot forward, you barely have a problem starting up the game and running. Beside being a dull old arcade game aka Top Skater don't bother getting the game unless its at a garage sale. The board accuracy is under 50%, grinding feels weak, carving barely works, ollies are off and low to the ground feeling. If you ever wanted to be a skateboarder or even emulate the skateboarding experience your better off buying a real skate board with real wheels, trucks and bearing and hitting your nearest curb or skateboard "cool" shop for last years poser skate shirts, pants and music.
Furthermore, unless your grandma skateboarder or have a bad arthritis and want to brag "On how I use to be able to do these tricks." This game is non-gamer/gamer waste of money.
Proves a point made "skateboarders are not game designers."
THawkRIDE is not a skateboarding simulation nor a Tony Hawk game combo crazy fun game. I'm sad to report the PS2 controller popping the X button to control an ollie to dPad up to nose grind is more accurate than buying this overprice piece of landfill.
I recommend setting up this game for 5-8 years old... Oh wait just buy them a real skateboard and knee pads. Same amount of fun and even less money.
tony hawk February 12, 2010 Connie L. Kitchens (Lake Charles, LA) Great game - got for my nephew - he right away plugged it in and started playing. Next thing I knew his sister was on it. They have a blast with this game!!!
not user friendly February 5, 2010 D. Meyer This was sent to two families as Christmas gifts both had the same reaction...not the best! Both people I sent them to have years of skateboarding history...it is not being used.
boy really took to it, simple to set up and easy to play with! February 4, 2010 mwp chicago (chicago) fun device, calibration was easy, i only wish there were more skateboarding maps to run on. they could have really made this interesting if it was actual. i wonder why they didnt use actual real city mapping instead of the pseudo-thing. millennium park in chicago, why not get it exact? anyway, appreciate the graphic quality and touch sensitivity. final grade? A.
Problems with batteries January 26, 2010 Nicholas J. Kittleson (Anchorage, Alaska) I bought the game and enjoyed the game play even though I could not get the board to always register my moves. It provides a great workout, which I really appreciate. Also reminds me of my skateboard years as a teen, and I feel really cool making my computer skater do all the moves I could never pull off on my skateboard as a kid. I think that movement register is based on light sensitivity and so it might work better once the sun starts to shine here in Alaska again. But the problem I am dealing with at the moment is lack of battery life. I will use it for an hour or two twice or three times. Then I will put the board away for a week or two. Then when I try to session again, the batteries are completely dead. I returned my first one because of this problem. But my second one has the exact same problem! I did not buy it from Amazon, but from a local Fred Meyer store so return is pretty easy. Maybe the batch that was shipped to Alaska was all defective. Anyway, it is fun enough that I will return this one and try another.
